I let the D70 auto-expose in this light, but the autofocus was nowhere near working.

If it had been a photograph of Emily, she would have been in focus, instead of her fingers.
Clearly this was intended to be a advertisement for fingernail polish, or empty beer glasses, or something.

Photos with the Levine's rental D70 and F/1.4 prime focus lens. Full frame as shot. Unmanipulated except where it's obvious or declared. Note that with the 1.5x crop on the D70's sensor, 50 mm is a lot like 75mm, so this is a portraiture lens. For real 50mm-like perspective you'd want a 35mm lens.
